When the sun is really bright and high in the sky, try to turn your face away from the sun. The photographer will have the light in their eyes, but the image is about you.

This will help avoid dark shadows appearing in your eye sockets and in the lines under your cheeks. It’ll also reduce the skin texture so any enlarged pores will be minimised.

Light forming a rim around the edge of the face and figure from behind are a good thing so you don’t need to come away from the sun entirely.

This image also focuses on symmetry, framing, colour and leading lines.
